SILVER SNAG
~ a cozy fantasy-adventure novel by Fala Cedar ~
More than anything, fifteen-year-old witch Harland Gray longs to return home to the city of Raven’s Head, where he was born and raised. But the city is hundreds of miles away, and his widower father refuses to go back. Unwilling to abandon his troubled father, Harland feels stuck and lost, comforted only by his magic and memories of his beloved mother.Everything changes when a family friend gives Harland a most curious gift: an antique pendant, engraved with words in a language he doesn’t understand. The gift harbors a secret that leaves him wounded and ill, and he’s forced to travel to Raven's Head to find a healer. The journey to the city is treacherous and strange, and Harland is dogged by bizarre magical messages and visitations that seem to be coming from the pendant. The messages lead him to Fawn, a kind-hearted girl whose parents have mysteriously vanished. United by common feelings of loss and loneliness, the pair become friends.Determined to unravel the mysteries of the pendant and Fawn’s missing parents, the new friends embark on a perilous quest through rainy forests and cobblestone streets to a wondrous, moonlit world of dark magic where they must face thorns and monsters and fight despair with hope.

Hello, friend! Thanks for taking the time to stop by.I'm Fala, and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the USA with my family in a little cottage beneath a majestic birch tree. If I'm not writing or making odd creatures, I'm probably hunting for offbeat items at a thrift shop or worrying about something. I worry a lot.I'm a lifelong reader and especially love fantasy novels. I've been a Tolkien nerd since I was a kid, but I also love cozy fantasies and supernatural mysteries.I'm a late bloomer when it comes to publishing a book. I've been writing my entire life, but have never finished a novel before. It's been a long and crazy ride, going all the way back to 2009, when the setting for my world and its characters arrived fully-formed in my brain one day. They've lived there ever since.Unfortunately, I had to put my writing aside for several years because life got weird (not in a good way). Finally, about three years ago, I threw out 90% of the original manuscript, took some writing and outlining courses, and started fresh-ish.I also decided to draw the art for the book cover, using Procreate. I'm primarily a pen-and-ink artist, so I wanted to recreate my typical style digitally to make things "easier". It was not easier. Not for a luddite like me, anyway! Everything about the creation of Silver Snag has been a ton of work, but I'm very proud of my cozy little book, and I hope folks enjoy it!
